Craving a late-night supper with a group of your friends? What a better way to end the day than to bond over a steaming-hot mookata platter. You may even bump into Singapore celebrities during your meal!
Opened by Mediacorp artistes Chew Chor Meng and Zhou Chongqing, this newly opened mookata stall in a coffeeshop is affordable with prices all nett. While it offers the same ingredients across the board as every other Mookata eateries out there, it has been incredibly popular as the kopitiam stall even includes premium ingredients like scallops and prawns into their set menu at incredible value.
Set meals start from $26 for 2 pax, you can get your fill of items like tiger prawn, scallop, mussels, chicken, pork and vegetables to grill over a moat of tasty chicken broth. We ordered an extra portion of pork collar Our star marbled pork collar for its tasty flavours. Well marinated, it roasts gently on the grill for that meltingly succulent texture. I applaud them for their attention to details as the tiger prawns were all nicely de-shelled, making it a lot easier to eat.
One of the bosses used to do mookata previously, so rest assure that the recipes for the sauces and meat marinades are authentically Thai. I am super in love their sauces. The sweet version is good with anything in the steamboat while the spicy one pairs well with all the grilled meats. At the end of the meal, don’t forget to cook a packet of the tom yum instant noodles in it.
Indeed, there’s much to be happy about when dining at 888 Mookata, thanks to affordable pricing and late opening hours.
