If you’ve been following me since early 2015, you may remember that I visited the handsome Dr. Gabriel Wong at SL Clinic for Botox and Fillers. And I was incredibly happy with the results; just in time for my wedding then!
Fast-forward to 2016, and having munched my way to a rounder face, I decided I needed to get my V face back. So I paid Dr. Gabriel a visit, wanting to look slimmer and better for CNY 2017.

But why see Dr. Gabriel Wong again, when I could go to some other clinic (and probably get a cheaper deal)? Because I trust him. It’s like entrusting your hair to that one hair stylist. It’s a relationship that we’ve built, not just some everyday transaction.
I’ve said it in my previous post before that a good aesthetic doctor to me, is one who gives me good logical advice and recommend suitable, affordable treatments that deliver an enhanced, yet natural-looking results. Natural is the operative word here – I still want to look like Miss Tam Chiak. So naturally (pun intended), Dr. Gabriel’s the logical, and most comfortable choice!
The first time I saw him, I didn’t know what I needed. I just wanted to look better for my wedding. This time, I came in with a goal in mind – to get that V FACE! So after a quick consultation, Dr. Gabriel recommended his latest treatment – HIFU V Sculpting – and combined it with chin fillers for even better results. He also talked about another face lifting and sharpening treatment, which I’ll consider for another time.
So what’s HIFU V Sculpting?
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). It’s not a new technology, since ultrasound scans have been around for ages. But its application in the field of aesthetic medicine is en vogue.
The special part about HIFU is that the ultrasound energy is focused to target two layers under the skin: the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system), the same layer targeted by plastic surgeons in a surgical facelift; and the subcutaneous tissues, where collagen and elastin are made and deposited. So it’s basically a Non-Invasive, Non-Surgical Face Lift. Plus it’s able to burn a little fats too!
It’s perfect for me because my skin’s starting to sag on the sides, face is getting rounder, and my double chin is becoming a triple chin. SAVE ME DR. GABRIEL!
Dramatics aside, Dr. Gabriel says my condition is not that bad lah, which surprised me a little. He said I only needed two sessions of the HIFU, as my condition is not too jialat.
So on to the HIFU V Sculpting! (After a nice thorough skin cleansing by the sweet assistant.)

Now, I’ve heard of friends who’ve done other similar treatments before with other technologies, and they usually pay extra to be sedated because the treatments can get VERY painful. When I voiced my concerns to Dr. Gabriel, he was assured me that HIFU is still very tolerable compared to other treatments; don’t need to be knocked out, plus save money on the sedation!

As Dr. Gabriel ran the HIFU handpiece over my face, I felt a tingling sensation in the areas he passed over. As the machine continued its “tut tut tut” and Dr. Gabriel returning to the same areas for another pass of the ultrasound, I could feel the sensation intensifying. It was a dull ache sensation which was stronger when it came to my jawline. But ok lah, still can tahan. Dr. Gabriel said the sensation is stronger in the jawline because there’s less flesh there and he was also concentrating more shots on that area to give me better results.

Dr. Gabriel focused his efforts on the lower half of my face, where them problems lie: cheeks, jawline, double chin area, and also the sides of my face. But just to let me see how effective the treatment is, he did the left half of my face first and showed me the immediate results, as you can see here:

The HIFU was finished within my lunch hour, just in time as I had another appointment to make. And there was no noticeable downtime (except for a dull ache in my jaws), so my appointment couldn’t tell I had something done!
While the first session produced immediate results, Dr. Gabriel recommended coming back for one more. During the wait for my second HIFU treatment, I found the results was improving, noticeably, albeit slightly. Fast forward 2 months, Dr. Gabriel repeated the HIFU treatment on the same area. And then we proceeded on with the dramatics – chin fillers!
So why do I want to make my chin more prominent and sharper? As Dr. Gabriel explained to me before, the chin is important in balancing the upper half of the face. No balance = top heavy! Plus, I can also lengthen my face slightly and make it more V.
Rather than bore you with more treatment photos (you can see those in my earlier chin filler treatment with Dr. Gabriel), let’s jump to the Before & Afters! Here you have the glory of a well-balanced chin all thanks to the Belotero Intense filler!

I am so thankful for Dr. Gabriel’s natural ability to identify how to improve my looks without changing it drastically. My friends couldn’t tell what I did, but they thought I definitely looked better.
This is why I believe it’s getting easier and more common for us to get a little something done. Many of these aesthetic procedures offer little to no downtime, with subtle changes that can improve the entire look and balance of the face. I am VERY sure I will be going back to Dr. Gabriel for another little improvement to my face.
HIFU V Sculpting starts from $1284 nett and filler treatments start from $856 nett, depending on individual requirements. Thank you Dr. Gabriel of SL Clinic for making me prettier and smiling with greater confidence!
