Triple Three at Mandarin Orchard Singapore has launched The Great, Big American Buffet tonight, showcasing iconic American dishes using ingredients flown from US. During the launch party, the team has specially done a giant burger which was recognised by the Singapore Book of Records as the largest hamburger in Singapore!
Over 60 kg of beef, 100 whole eggs, 15 kg of flour and 5kg of onions were needed to make this enormous sized burger. The burger measured 82cm by 40cm and weighed approximately more than 100kg. Preparations for the mammoth task started two months ago as recipes needed to be perfected to make sure that the giant burger patty did not break and finding the right solution to bake the giant burger buns. Guess what, four chefs are needed to carry the buns around. Crazy but so fun!
The Great, Big American Buffet features iconic dishes from the good ole USA. Seafood lovers will be thrilled with freshly shucked oysters, Alaskan king crabs and fresh prawns.
The boy who is a Japanese food lover got excited at this section. He brought back many plates of sashimi and sushi.
Salads and cold cuts
There were a few live stations, including a teppanyaki counter featuring quality beef, prawns, vegetables etc. The clam chowder is creamy with generous portions of small clams. I decided to spread the guilt and split the portion into two. There’s also fajitas, chilli corne carne and mini sliders with Monterey Jack cheese (I prefer the small burgers to the huge one haha). Go for the Boston lobster which is available either poached with tomato salsa, or poached in Chinese style chilli sauce.
Many ingredients are freshly flown from the U.S including juicy pork ribs and oven-roasted US prime beef. Grilled halibut is grilled till fork-tender and flakey. I like their roast ham, rubbed the perfect blend of spices and slow-cooked until exceptionally tender.

Not forgetting the desserts which offers a range of American style sweets like apple pie, chocolate pice, strawberry shortcake, cakes etc.
The Great, Big American Buffet is available for dinner and Sunday brunch from now till 26 April 2015. Each adult costs $108++; each child costs $42++.
