Big thanks to missuschewy & michelleagy, the girls gave me a birthday treat at Nosh some time back. I was complaining that I didn’t get to eat crab tart when I visited P.S. Cafe the other time, so the thoughtful missuschewy suggested Nosh because they sell crab cakes too. Good idea, having brunch at a black-and-white colonial house is definitely appealing.

I thought Nosh was a new restaurant, but when I reached here, I then realized the same dynamic team from Krish has came up with a new relaxed bistro concept, Nosh. If you remembered, I do not have a good impression for Krish (read here). The service was horrible and we had three bills in total because there was mistakes one after another.

I can go on and on about it but never mind, since they have changed their concept, I must give it another chance right? Nosh continue to sits on the same thoroughly enchanting grounds in Rochester Park. The gorgeous al fresco space is still there, so is the charming upstairs dining room.

Brunch is served at weekends. I don’t think they have a different brunch menu from Krish and very coincidentally, I ordered almost the same dishes as what we ordered from Krish. Truffle Mushroom Soup ($10) is filled with black truffles, button mushroom and shiitake mushroom, served with toasted baguette. As compared to the previous time, the truffle oil really intensifies the flavour of the mushroom soup this time.

Then… we waited 45 minutes for our mains….which was horribly long and the restaurant is not even full house.

Missuschewy had a plate of Smoked Salmon Benedict ($18). I guess you can’t really go wrong with this.

Misterchewy’s Lamb Burger ($19)

Seafood Aglio Olio ($22) is served with a generous amount of fresh prawns. The al dente pasta has a good balance of garlic and olive oil. The amount of olive oil is just right and the amount of red chilli in the dish should please even the most finicky spice-lover.

My Crab Cake Benedict ($18) is as good as what I had in Krish (in my impression lah). Drizzled with coconut curry hollandaise, it gives a twist to the dish and not too overpowering. Most crab cakes have hardly any crabmeat and is made from breadcumbs and eggs but Nosh’ crab cakes are full of crabmeat with light seasoning.

Michelle’s Nosh Omelette ($16) is not bad too. The diced roasted potatoes is really tasty.

We ended the meal with a Toffee Date Cake ($12). The light vanilla custard and caramel made the cake too sweet.
